Film Review : Killer of The Flower Moon

Synopsis :

In the early 1920s, the discovery of oil on land belonging to the Native American, Osage Nation, turns the tribe into some of the richest people in the world. This sudden acquisition of wealth attracts the attention of white businessmen looking to seize the opportunity at stealing as much from the Osage tribe as possible. Among this group of interlopers is Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), whom upon arriving in Oklahoma is encouraged by his uncle William King Hale (Robert De Niro) to marry a member of the Osage as a way of inheriting their fortune. Ernest soon fall in love and marries Mollie (Lily Gladstone), a young Osage woman who has strong ties to her family's riches. As the white occupation of native land continues, members of the Osage tribe are repeatedly found murdered under mysterious circumstances, with some of Mollie's close family being among the most prominent victims.

This film is based on  the 2017 book of the same title, the author David Elliot Grann. Killer of The Flower Moon is directed by Martin Scorsese, and the screen writer is Eric R. Roth.

Killer of The Flower Moon genres is Crime, Drama, History, Western. And it took 3 hours 26 minutes to watch it.

Four Aspect that i like about this movie :

1. Cinematography

It’s not Martin Scorsese movies without brilliant cinematography, alongside Rodrigo Prieto, who’s one of the great upcoming cinematographer of our era who does such work like ‘Barbie’, both can make such an remarkable picture together. Additionally, almost all of Scorsese's visual trademarks as a director are on full display here, from his wide-open cinematography designed to immerse the audience in the world of 1920s America, to his creative framing of characters in shot to give a certain perspective on a scene.

2. Crime Plot

The chaos of all this was the idea of William Hale, Ernest's uncle. He planned this crime because he was crazy about money. William's motive for having Ernest marry an Osage woman was to get the inheritance from Mollie's family.

3. Romance

Ernest and Mollie's romance is not the main point in this film. Their relationship is slowly killing them towards the end of movie. At the first half of the film we can see them as a lovebirds before finally the two got divorced. I have to appreciate the acting of Leonardo Dicaprio and Lily Gladstone. They successfully played their roles.

4. Historical and Culture

This film tells the true story of the Osage Nation and the crimes committed against their people in 1920s Oklahoma. This film shows the culture of the Osage tribe which I think is unique, this film shows the way the Osage tribe does weddings and funerals.

We can also see Osage tribal culture in the character’s everydayness, especially Mollie’s family. The soundtrack of this film also adds a feel to the 1920s.

This film is very recommended to watch. From me i'll give 8,5/10.

That's all. Thanks!
